Icehorse is cluster of over 20 companies and farms in the Northwest of Iceland. Most of those companies are based on a long
experience of horse breeding and horsemanship or within the tourist sector, with many of them belonging to both categories. In Icelandic the cluster goes by the name of Hýruspor but
internationally and web wide it is known as Icehorse, www.icehorse.is.
The main objectives of Icehorse are:
- To improve the quality of horse based services offered by tourism companies in Northwest Iceland
- To increase the variety of horse based services offered by tourism companies in Northwest Iceland, with special emphasis on low season
- To increase the number of tourists buying horse based services in Northwest Iceland and at the same time to enhance the various related services (such as accommodation and restaurants)
- To increase the number of jobs based on the Icelandic horse in Northwest Iceland
- To increase the solidarity of those companies in the Northwest Iceland basing some or all of their income on the Icelandic horse – be it in tourism, breeding or other businesses
- To enhance the branding of Northwest Iceland as the Horse District
Opening this web site was one of the first joint activities of the Icehorse group. Here one should be able to find information on all major horse based services in the area, in just one web site.
